Staff Focus
This is Prossy.
Prossy runs the tailoring course for us at Victorious Vocational College, and she has been on staff with us for 3 years. She got married in December 2025 and is the main breadwinner. Her husband is limited in what he can do, as he is unable to do heavy manual work, which is the main work available. Prossy has one daughter from a past relationship.
Each year Prossy will usually train 10 students from the camps along with some fee paying students. This year she is training 15 students, with 5 being fee paying.
The college year starts towards the end of January. So far this academic year the students have had basic orientation and have undertaken assignments that included:
Practical classes where the students practiced threading machines and winding bobbins
Students made paper and fabric practice and exercises to control speed and sew straight lines without threads
Introduced to measurement basics, that is working with fellow students to take appropriate measurements and then correctly recording them.
